Kampgrounds of America, Inc. has announced the addition of the Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey to its network of over 500 campgrounds across North America. Located in Leduc, Alberta, just south of Edmonton and near the Edmonton International Airport, the campground will now operate under the KOA Journey brand.
The property, a long-standing destination for both leisure and business travelers, is expected to benefit from increased visibility and resources through its new affiliation with KOA.
Ken Albertson, representing the Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey, said the transition supports the campground’s long-term growth goals.
“We’re happy to bring the KOA brand to this location and welcome even more campers to the region,” said Albertson.
“We’ve built a loyal guest base over the years, particularly on weekends, and we see a great opportunity to expand our reach. Joining the KOA family will boost our visibility and attract more travelers heading to Alaska and Western Canada, ultimately driving long-term growth for the campground.”

Located near the Nisku Industrial Park, Canada’s largest oil and gas industrial hub, the campground is frequented by both recreational campers and business travelers. Its proximity to major highways also makes it a convenient stop for those traveling toward Jasper and Banff National Parks.
The Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey is one of the few local campgrounds offering 50-amp power and long pull-thru RV sites suitable for larger rigs. Additional amenities include a children’s playground, two pickleball courts, and an event hall that accommodates family reunions, small weddings, and group events.
Open seasonally from April 15 to October 15, the campground is located at 4314 Lions Park Road in Leduc, Alberta.
A major expansion is currently in the early planning stages. According to Albertson, the Leduc Lions Club is considering relocating the campground to a nearby site adjacent to Telford Lake.
The proposed move would provide additional space and opportunities for amenity development, aligning with KOA’s strategy of enhancing the overall guest experience.
For outdoor hospitality operators, the affiliation with KOA presents potential insights into the benefits of joining a larger campground network.
KOA’s 2024 Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report highlights that campers contributed $61 billion to local economies in 2024, with an average daily spend of $200 per camper.
Trends also indicate that 27% of campers are motivated by cultural experiences in small towns, and another 27% are drawn by food-related tourism.
The report suggests that strategically located and amenity-rich campgrounds can help attract a mix of transient travelers and destination campers alike.
Reservations at the Edmonton/Leduc Lions KOA Journey can be made online, through the KOA App, or by calling 780-986-1882.
