Prairie Junction RV Resort in Stettler, Alberta, has announced plans to expand its accommodations with a new collection of themed glamping units, a project the resort says is being developed in partnership with Travel Alberta.

The expansion, known as Prairie Haven Expansion, was announced through the resort’s Facebook page and represents the largest development undertaken by the property to date. Located approximately two hours northeast of Calgary, Prairie Junction RV Resort said the project is designed to broaden its accommodation offerings while attracting visitors seeking themed overnight experiences.

According to the announcement, the expansion will introduce nine themed accommodations inspired by destinations and concepts from around the world. Planned units include The Aloha, The Turkish Delight, The Paris, The Little Italy, The Disco Inferno, The Wrangler, The Royal, The Outback, and The Jungle Gym.

The resort said the accommodations will range from luxury glass domes to themed covered wagons, with each providing a distinct design and guest experience. Planned features include opportunities for stargazing, outdoor campfires, and themed settings intended to appeal to a range of travelers, including couples, families, and groups.

Construction on the Prairie Haven Expansion is currently underway, according to the Daily Hive. Prairie Junction RV Resort expects the new accommodations to open during the winter of 2026.

The project reflects a broader trend within the outdoor hospitality industry, where campground and RV resort operators are investing in differentiated lodging options to appeal to guests seeking experiences beyond traditional RV sites and campsites.

Themed accommodations, glamping structures, and unique overnight stays have become increasingly common as operators look to attract new customer segments, extend seasonal demand, and diversify revenue streams.

For campground, RV resort, and glamping business owners, projects such as Prairie Haven highlight how experiential accommodations can complement existing RV and camping operations. By introducing a mix of lodging styles and distinctive themes, operators may be able to reach travelers who are new to outdoor hospitality while encouraging longer stays and higher per-guest spending through premium accommodations.

The partnership with Travel Alberta also illustrates how destination marketing organizations and tourism agencies can play a role in supporting tourism-related developments. Collaborations between private operators and regional tourism partners can help raise awareness of new attractions while strengthening the appeal of rural destinations for both domestic and international visitors.

Prairie Junction RV Resort said the Prairie Haven Expansion is intended to help position Stettler as a destination for travelers looking for a different type of overnight experience. As construction progresses through 2026, the project will add another example of how Canadian outdoor hospitality businesses are incorporating themed glamping accommodations into their long-term growth strategies.
